Mercari is my favorite app for secondhand shopping. Mainly because it’s not just clothing, and it’s not all junk. It feels like what would happen if Craigslist had an app, and was for smaller stuff.
As a shopper, the Mercari app makes it super easy to search for items you want. And it’s easy to comment and ask for discounts from the sellers themselves.
It also has an intuitive interface for once you’ve actually bought an item. You can track the items progress after the seller ships it. For some reason, all Mercari users are great about posting quality product photos. You really can see what you’re buying. I don’t know why this is—other secondhand apps just don’t have the same quality of sellers, I guess.
As a seller, it’s also super simple. You can take a photo of your item right inside the app, and it takes a mere 30 seconds to enter the item details. Once you’ve finished, people instantly see your item at the top of the product news feed. And anyone who has put on an alert for the item you’re posting will get notified. It’s easy to communicate with potential buyers in the Comments section.
You can even discuss discounts very easily, without stress. Then, once someone purchases your item, the Mercari app helps you with shipping. No confusion, just package, print the label, and ship it!
Overall the whole process was a breeze. I am constantly buying and selling stuff on the Mercari App (as well as Poshmark), and I love it.
