My Minibar Review

While I was out at work one day, I heard that my roommate got a new job. I wanted to have something to celebrate with him, and there weren’t any good stores on my way home (but more seriously, it was because I am super lazy and addicted to on-demand apps).  So before I left I went into the Minibar app, chose a lovely bottle of champagne ($22), used the Minibar promo code PARTY10 for $10 off, and set it up to deliver right after I got home.

It was a cinch (I’m ashamed to say I had to look up how to spell that word). My front door is sorta hard to find from the road, so I got a phone call from the delivery guy when he got there, and I met him outside. I was dumb and forgot my wallet, so had to run back in to grab it. It wasn’t to pay him—that’s taken care of in-app—but it was in order to verify my age (nice try, sneaky teens).

We have since opened the bottle and enjoyed it immensely, so the quality of the alcohol choices is high. My one negative was that I included the optional, free gift add-on, and wrote a little “Congratulations!” note to my roommate—but when I found the note, it was a hastily torn-off piece of paper, all soggy from the cold champagne. Note to Minibar: I think perhaps it would be better to remove that feature. It detracted, rather than added.

But other than that tiny little silly thing, it was a fantastic experience!

3. When you’re ready, add some alcohol to your cart
4. Select a 2-hour delivery window (note: you will have to be there to receive it, so you can verify your age)
5. Hang out until your booze arrives!
6. Party! Or be sophisticated. Either way.

It’s a really fun way to impress friends when you’re running out of booze, or just a nice thing to come home to after work, knowing that your lovely bottle of wine is on it’s way into your thirsty throat.
