Sometimes it’s tough to fathom leaving your big dog at home for a family vacation. But now you can actually search for hotels that allow big dogs through BringFido.

Best Hotels that Allow Big Dogs (and Don’t Charge a Fee)

So as we mentioned, what you want to do, is start out at BringFido.com.

From there, you can do a really specific search based on the size of your dog, the number of dogs, and whether the hotel charges an extra fee for dogs.

Be sure to enter your destination and your travel dates. Then you can select some of the drop downs below to be more particular. Since I have a big dog, I usually check the additional boxes “Large dogs allowed” and “Pet fee less than $25”. Often this will show places that have no pet fee at all.

You can toggle the price bar to only show places in a reasonable range. And then choose one of the remaining options based on how many “bones” (aka stars) it receives from other customers. The listings are sometimes pulled from Airbnb or another hotel website.

In Los Angeles (where I’m visiting next), I can already see one awesome Guest house near the beach that costs only $79 per night and allows big dogs for only $10. Whoopee!

Other Features of Bring Fido

Bring Fido also lets you do searches for fun activities, restaurants, and more—that your dog(s) can come to. They have fantastic lists of dog-friendly hikes, great pet businesses, and even dog events like meetup groups for big or small dogs near your home.

I’ve found more than one great hike near my house that I wasn’t even aware of, which my dog is now a huge fan of. I always worry when I’m planning on taking him for a hike, since some hikes seem like they aren’t super dog-friendly. So it’s wonderful having the ability to see a full list, along with reviews from other pet owners.
