HipCamp Review
I am a big Airbnb junkie—everywhere I go, I opt for Airbnb over traditional hotels. I’ve found that it’s a better way to get a feel for where you’re staying. Not only the neighborhoods, but the actual locals as well. Your hosts can tell you where to go, and what to do.
But I digress. It was because of my Airbnb ways that I even discovered HipCamp—an Airbnb host tipped me off to it. Basically HipCamp lists all the coolest places you can do glamor camping, or glamping. It then lets you book those places straight from their owners.
Many of the spots are on private land. You can stay in backyards, airstreams, or little cabins built into the person’s land. All are unique, and in areas that are right in the middle of nature.
However, HipCamp isn’t cheap. It’s not like spending $10 to secure a camping spot or something like that. Prices range from $50 (if you’re lucky), up through hundreds of dollars a night. You can always score at least $20 off with this Hipcamp promo code link, but even still—expensive.
But luckily you’re getting something beyond camping. It’s better than staying in a home. It’s a nature-y experience that also includes a comfortable bed, clean sheets, and sometimes even running water. For example, one of the listings had me sold at “clawfoot tub under the stars”.
I did manage to give a “campsite” a try, Southern California. It was absolutely magical—it felt like I was a little kid again, living in a fort…but in nature.
